I don't see how a trials tire could outperform a knobby in the mud

 

Check this video of David Knight winning round two of the 2007 Maxxis Endurocross at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma. I got an interview with David moments before this video was made. David won the race on trials tires front and rear. Most of the top riders used them.

Trials tires are all about grip and performance. They may not look cool, but I know a lot of folks that use them and swear by them. They are also easier on the trails and terrain. I'm seriously considering one for my next rear tire.

 

id have try these tires to believe they are better in mud than knobbies......

 

I don't think anyone said they were better in mud specifically. But who just rides mud? I've heard they are great at rocky, rooty, gnarly terrain where knobbies spin-out these have traction and get up you that hill with little drama.

I have seen "Trial Tires" go on sale for really cheap ($30-40) would they be safe or as 'good'?
which Brand of trials are sub-par?
