Yeah Matt, thats what I thought. That being said, the buy is still under dealership warranty, so I am not sure if I should get them to fix it or not. The dealership is quite far from here though so the price of transport might be the same as the price of the tensioner shipped from the US.

My reasoning for not using it:
1. The dealer will tell you nothing is wrong, they all do that,
2. They will force an adjustment of the auto tensioner which can be worse than leaving it clack,
3. Or they will keep your bike for a week or two while they replace the crappy auto tensioner with another crappy auto tensioner.

Am I being sarcastic...

I'll probably get burned for posting this but here goes.
First remove large bolt in center and remove spring.
If you remove the two bolts that hold the cam chain tensioner to the head, you can carefully remove it listening intently that you don't hear a click, carefully press in the ratchet dog and extend the tensioner one more tooth, reinstall and listen to chain. If you still have noise, repeat one tooth at a time. If you do hear a click when removing, or are not sure you only got 1 tooth, reset the plunger all the way in and let it readjust itself. It's not rocket science, but if you extend the tensioner too far you will put too much strain on the chain and cam bearings, possibly ruining your head.
You can do it, I have confidence in you.

No burn from me darkmarc. I did the same and it worked for a little while, but the ratcheting device on my KLX was failing and went back to a rattle soon. Good way to diagnose the problem.

And, using that loosening/retightening method involves a good possibility of undue stress on the chain, cam gears, cam bearings, and guide blocks.

FLAAAAAAAME! FLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAME!

haha seems like a good idea to me, at least to see if a click or two helps the problem, if it does, order a cam chain tensioner, if not, off to the dealer it goes!

I talked to Mark Krieger and I have now ordered a cam chain tensioner. Marks product is super cheap, but stupid customs and EU VAT make it almost double price. It kinda sucks when you are a broke student like me the spends all his money on his bike.

Anyway, Mark is a stand up guy and his customer service is very good! He took time and answered any question I had thoroughly. Always a pleasure to do buisness across the pond with such people

Now I hope it will arrive soon so I can fix my problem. I have been riding around with this noise for awhile and I am afraid that I might have excessive wear or damage on the internals now, ugh...

That's ridiculous paying double on such a low cost item. We got import tax here but it only applies to certain items over 100usd!!

If you ask Mark nicely maybe he can swap the normal invoice for a hand written, it's a gift note in the parcel. It is just a small block of metal with 2 Allen bolts plus a hex bolt & a nut!

Tell me about it! Here we pay 30% tax on anything over 14$.

But thats not the dumbest part. Postal service charge you a 29$ flat fee on taxing your parcels!

That means if you buy something costing more than 14$ you will have to pay 30% tax + 29$ for the postal service to tax it!!!!! Its outrageous!
Its too late now to do the invoice as I already paid for a cheaper (but not by much) shipping with a company that specializes in bringing things home from the USA. I bought the Krieger cam chain tensioner and another item for 60$ and the company charges me another 60$ to tax, handling, customs fee and shipping. Double up of prices, yay.

Besides, I tried ordering a luggage rack a few months ago and the item was listed as a gift. Customs held back my order until I could produce an invoice. That time I ended up paying 55$ more to bring a 70$ item into the country

Its also the reason why I have decided that I will probably never get an aftarmarket FMF pipe. It would end up costing 670$ to bring into this country with all the stupid bull**** taxes, customs fee and handling fees.

I also want to get the Seatconcepts seat, IMS EFI gas tank (when it comes) and PMRside racks, but again customs will probably screw me over hard...ugh.
