Max weight on rear rack?

I have the nomad(ic)(?) rack and the quality is great. When I haul a 5l jerry can of fuel (about 10 lbs) its not perceptible to the handling, even off road. When I haul a 10l (about 20lbs) jerry can however, it does make the bike top heavy and it becomes a handful off road. I usually bring a cable lock with me if I am bringing the big can so that I can leave it by a tree when I get to the trail and ride unencumbered by the weight.

Had some Sam Adams winter cask ale, Some Linengeugals(I can drink it better than I can spell it or pronounce it) all cases. I have a buddy that hooks me up with cases of beer at his price if I preorder. So I just stop by on the way home and if no one elses around I pick up my beer.
Cheers Jim

new rack/bag
just got my new rack! I couldn't decide which one I wanted, so a friend that has a welding shop built this one for me. He also mounted a plate on the back of the rack so I could still keep my tool bag. (it can be removed also) I don't have a lot of weight in it, mostly emergency stuff, extra gloves, ect....

Nice looking rack(last time I said that I got slapped) I cant tell but it looks like it attaches by the bolts that held the tool bag. I think you might need to be carefull how much weight you put on it unless you have your buddy extend the side bars forward enough to bolt to the two bolts that hold the seat/anchor the rear of the side plastics.

it actually is attached to the subframe under the fender. I was nervous when I saw the rack, until he walked over and lifted the bike by the rack, to show me how it was mounted. I'll get a picture when I can, to show how he did it. I don't put much weight in it, just emergency stuff and extra gloves, ect.
