Hi all, first post here.. (sorry if this isnt the right forum)

I'm new to riding and I recently got a klx250. I'm 5'6" 145 lbs (28 inseam I think) so having a couple inches off the top would give me more confidence offroad. I was going to shave 1" off the seat and I want the bike itself to be lowered 1". Those 2 inches would be perfect. But for some reason I cannot find links for this bike that are 1". Found some for 100$ but they are 1.75. Not sure I want to spend that if I decide to take them off someday. I can ride it stock of but it's just plain uncomfortable offroad at my current skill level. You can make them from steel flat stock. You get the bike on a jack with the back tire just touching, pull the links off then lower the jack by a couple inches, measure the distance of the bolt holes, center to center and make the links. I've seen them done with I think 3/16", maybe as thin as 1/8" steel flat stock. Takes a hack saw, a drill press, and some files - and a spray bomb to paint them.

 

Thank you for that info. I actually broke down and got the kouba links for 1.25". Now onto some other mods..
