Looking to add some power
Just picked up a 2006 KLX250s tonight and would like to add some simple power. After reading the forums it seems the way to go is a Dynojet Kit, KDX 220 Snorkel and an exhaust.
Is this the correct Dynojet?
Is this the correct Snorkel?

Which exhaust should i go with? Looking for the best bang for the buck exhaust out there.
Can i do the modifications one at a time, or should they all be done at once?
thanks!

Best to do all at once. You can jet it with stock intake and exhaust to help with the factory lean condition, but you'll have to re-jet when you upgrade the exhaust and/or intake.
I run the Q4 and like it very much.
I have the '09, so I'm not sure which DJ kit works best on the '06... but there is a lifetime worth of jetting info here on the forum.

If you are going to run with the lid on the airbox - snorkle or not - get the DJ 2152 kit and install as per instructions..
If you are interested in a max performance lidless setup, you can get the DJ2152 or DJ2206 , the appropriate extra jet(s), and install as per the lidless recipe..
Exhaust: Max performance requires a full system (header + slipon).
You can start learning of your options by reading the threads in my signature line, then look at all threads I've started..

I have been told when I bought it that he geared the front sprocket down twice (a tooth each time) so I am guessing it is 12-42
If you bought sprockets I'd recommend looking at ratios for the sprockets and use the biggest that will make the ratio you want. A 45/13 gives a ratio near the same as 48/14 provided a 48 can be fitted. A 47/14 can be had and fitted and gives a decent low gearing plus quick front sprocket changes to either a 13 or 15 if desired. Just start with a 47/15 when breaking the chain to length to have enough chain to do the change over. I was working that idea to have a 47/15 road gear and a 47/13 off road gear, but screwed up and made the chain two links short, by setting it up with the 47/13 first without thinking.
- 42/14=3.00 Stock
- 42/13=3.23
- 45/13=3.46
- 48/14=3.43
- 47/14=3.36
- (47/15=3.13)
- (39/15=2.60 SM rear sprocket size and 15)
