Those look pretty good on paper and they are not very expensive. The load rating on the rear is very slightly less but should not be an issue.

Just installed some Shinko 705's on my second set of KLX250s rims. They feel great on the tarmac, which is exactly why I got them. They do not inspire confidence off road, that's why I have D606's on my other set of rims.

Hope to get some good wear from the 705's.

Ah yes... long wearing tires... the bane of all motorcyclists. Good luck in your endeavors. I get about 4000 miles a set with the Duro HF903/904. The center flattens out and is shallow enough and the front cupped enough I "can" them. For $100 it isn't worth running the rear bald and the front to the point of excess vibration and noise.

Those 705s are a bit like the Avon Distanzia, good road maybe not so great off road, but adequate for dirt/gravel roads for fun. A friend runs the Distanzias on his DRz SM. Look forward to hearing how they work.

Broke down and ordered a Dunlop D606 to replace my D605 stocker. It was WAY past time, the stocker was basically slick in the middle. I almost rolled the bike on a small hill last week when I lost traction halfway up, figured I was out of excuses at that point.

Got a very good price from Motorcycle Gear, Parts and Accessories - Motorcycle Superstore , free shipping, ordered on a Saturday afternoon and got it Tuesday morning!
The D606 is much more impressive in person than the stock photos on the tire sites-- GIANT lugs on that baby. Took it for a quick spin, can already tell its light years better than my worn out stocker.

Change your front stock, if you haven't already, to an IRC TR8 IRC TR8 Battle Rally Front Tire - Motorcycle Superstore.

Talking

I had the K270 front and rear. Rear I got almost 10,000 km out of and the front, well I'm not sure it would ever really "wear out" , that said the front is awful on anything but pavement.. awful.

I have approx 7,000 km on a Michelin T63 rear. I like it alot. handles great on the pavement and does off road well. Doesn't like rain much. Run a D606 front, works okay off road and on. going to be a 10,000 km tire.

Summary: If you want long lasting road performance that rocks on dirt roads Kenda's K270's are hard to beat, and are super cheap!

You do realize that rating is for continuous running over 75 mph at rated full load - and as a rating, probably has about a 3 times safety margin since that would be about the lowest level any reputable engineer would use. Just sayin' I kinda doubt anyone is going to strain a tire on a KLX250 like that for a couple hours on end...

Reminds me of the kid that came in and said the H rating (130 mph) tire wasn't good enough for his 75 Kawasaki Z1, they ran around all day long at a buck thirty or more... yeah... no.

Hey do you remember what size Shinko 705 you got for the rear? I can almost read it off the photo, but not quite... I was thinking for just leaving the stock front on till it wears noticeably.

I got the 4.10x18. In hindsight I'd have picked up the next size larger.

D606 rear is a long lasting tire and is reversible. I paired mine with the MOTOZ mountain x hybrid front tire, a replacement as time was very cruel to the D606 front. (don't run a d606 front)

I just picked up a set of k761's as a 80/20 street/dirt set. Liking them alot so far on the road, haven't tried the dirt yet. They are not as hard (compound) as I thought they would be, but I imagine any street- oriented tire to hold up longer than a knobby... unless you like to lock up the back wheel :P
