Long ride = sore ass
ive never really found the seat that bad for short rides on the road. ive done a couple of full days rounding up sheep and cattle and not felt a thing compard to a 2 hour ride on the road. thinking about taking my klx for a 5 hour ride in a few weeks on the road was a bit iffy about how comfy it will be but i think i just need to man up. its only a bit of pain that will go away.
It’s been my experience that the KLX is hardly the only offender when it comes to uncomfortable seats. Outside of full touring bikes, the concepts of ‘comfort’ & ‘seat’ are usually mutually-exclusive. One could cut diamonds with the seats on most sportbikes…I don’t believe that we have come to a point in the evolution of the motorcycle, and the conditioning of the market, where comfy seats are a priority; I for one and glad about this!
As others have pointed out, there are plenty of aftermarket & homemade solutions for those who want a seat to pamper them (I have owned several Corbins before and swear by them) but as far as I am concerned anything that doesn’t make a motorcycle either accelerate, turn or brake faster, has no business being on a motorcycle in the first place. As long as the motorcycle manufacturers focus on these priorities, I am happy that my seat is uncomfortable.
