Default Rainy Day...

All day rain in western PA. Woke up and started on new rear fender. I think I'm finally done with it. Except for a little paint work on the plastic.

Hey DW108, did u happen to take any measurements (if u narrowed the frame) when doing the rear fender? I just finished gathering some parts to do mine, but if i know what I am getting into ahead of time, I can acquire the appropriate amount of beer too Or did u simply cut-off the tail end of the frame? Thanks.

Hey Mud..

jig saw, hack saw, and a file. Cut it off just behind the first cross support (the one the rack bolts to)

Too much involved in trying to narrow and bend the back end of the frame up to accomodate an mx fender.

Parts list -

Maier MX fender
Baja Designs LED Taillight
6 pack - depending on consumption rate!!

Pic isn't great, alot of flash, but might help.

DW.

Nice ride,...but good luck trying to get it inspected like that in our state (PA), or if the five-0 pull you over. Your missing a mirror, those signals are too small and are not DOT, and same goes with the LED tail light from Baja. Looks good, but not street legal.

If you take off that black part under the fender, the part that holds the plate.... the stock light becomes illegal on the street.... Legally you have to have a red reflector on the back, usually its integrated with the taillight, our bike its not. I had an inspection station tell me that the turn signals have to be 15" apart to be legal too....

This tail light is truely street legal..... and those turn signals passes too. ultimately its up to the insp station.....

Oh, well ...yeah. When you get technical like that, its just a matter of splitting hairs. Theres so many variables you could go to 10 different garages and get 10 different answers. Same goes with cops. You could get pulled over 10 times and 9 not even saying anything or even know such technical laws....but the 10th guy might. And the more things you have that aren't legal the better of a chance it becomes your gonna get caught.

Like that LED tail light under the fender is badass...I love it, and I wan't to put one on but I won't because you can't even tell you have a tail light on there. I pass cops all the time in my town, if one went by me and saw that there appeared to be no tail light on my bike I think I'd get pulled over, and once pulled over they would see its not DOT. See what I'm saying? Same with turn signals. His bike doesn't look like it even has turn signals on it. So if hes cruisin' down the road and a cop sees him with what appears to be no tail light, no turn signals, and one mirror, and a "visibly" aftermarket exhaust hes getting a ticket. I mean his machine completely looks like an offroad dirtbike at first glance. Which looks great, but just figured I'd let him know. I don't want to see him get a ticket.

And yeah, I did know about the reflector too. We also need a chain guard too. I see he and you removed that as well. He does have the red rear reflectors though.

edit: and oh yeah...we also need to have a license plate lamp as well. we're almost as bad as california.
