How do you get the larger pictures onto the threads?

 

Use a picture hosting site such as smugmug, photobucket or imgur.

For pictures:
1. Resize pic to approx 1024x768 size (I do this by emailing pics to myself).
2. Upload resized pic to Photobucket.
3. Once pic is in Photobucket album you can roll across pic and a menu w/ four link options appears, click on the bottom option and paste that link into your forum reply. (FYI, you can copy the third box and paste it into a craigslist ad to have large pics).

Don't know if this is the best way to do pics but works for me...

I find that any pictures over 800x600 is excessively large - except if it's something like a well taken artistic picture. Most of the time 800x600 is more than enough.

Also imgur.com will automatically resize any upload to whatever size you specify. It can be very handy.
