Default Leaking fork

One of my fork legs is leaking oil. Im just wondering if this is a commong thing on the 06 klx250? Someone mentioned to me there could be a piece of dirt stuck under the seal and to use a feeler gauge to try and dislodge it. If this doesnt work can the seal be changed easily? Anywhere I can read up on it? What kind of oil and how much, etc?

Don't use a feeler gauge use a thin card, try this first it might work. It's not too difficult to change a fork seal however you'll need to either make or buy a fork seal driver. http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to/vi...als-199503/eck out

That vid shows a Showa twin chamber fork the KLX fork is easier. There is a service manual for free on this forum somewhere download it and read it through. If you decide it's more than you want to tackle. Remove the forks from the bike yourself and just take the forks to the shop it will save you a few bucks.

I used a thin piece of plastic film.
Worked well.
An old negative would be good.

Mine has been leaking since I got it. I tried using something to slip up there to clean it out and it didn't work. I just refilled it with fork oil.

haha, I have no idea. You'd have to get a shop manual to see how much is in there to begin with....then estimate how much ran out and refill it.

I just got a syringe out of one of the wife's hair dye boxes and started squirt oil down in there. I must have fired down at least 180 CC's this time, and several months ago I probably put down 50-60 CC's .... at least, from memory thats what I believe it to be.
