That's the consensus thus far.

I apologize for the small font. Here it goes: Installing the new manual cam chain tensioner:

Thanks, IDRIDR. After reading your post I checked his site again, and found the directions page in less than a minute. I don't have any idea how I missed it this morning. Now, hopefully I can do better at following the directions than I did at locating them.

Question please? When installing the MCCT or the original CCT, should the engine be at TDC before installing?

Thanks,

I don't see that in the instructions and I didn't find TDC when I installed. I don't think it would make any difference. Just follow the instructions and ask Mr. Krieger if you have any questions.

I didn't put it to TDC either. Just don't turn the engine over while the tensioner is out.

Lotrat, you haven't been paying attention. Gay marriage is allowed in some states, but intimate nuptials with inanimate mechanical devices is illegal in all 50 states. You are allowed to love your KLX...but...well...you get my drift.

I know... That's why we went down to Mexico. You can get anything you want for $20 bucks in TJ.

Another satisfied Krieger Customer. Was nervous through the whole job(always am with something I have never done) but all went smooth. I didnt tighten it up by hand enough to start so there was a lot more noise on first crank and it scared the $hit out of me. Was scared of going too tight but after reading several times that you cant get it to tight by finger I trusted the advice and went a few more turns. All my clicking/clacking is gone!

+1 to what Arickrock said. I installed mine a couple of weeks ago. Works flawlessly.

My bike started sounding like a can of marbles already at 5-6000km or so, it sounded like the entire engine was coming apart at 5k rpms. I did a bigbore at 7300km and added the Krieger tensioner while everything was disassembled anyway.

No cam chain rattle anymore
