Klx351sf
Anyone that lives close enough to Burlington, WA can get a demo ride on a 351SF at Skagit Powersports. I rode it yesterday and it had wonderful power and sound. This is a new bike modified by the dealer with the 351 kit, an FMF can and pipe, and the pumper carb. They dyno'd the bike at each stage of modification and have the figures. They said the carb was unnecessary, that just jetting the stock carb would be fine.
They have ten of the stock 250SF models from a special buy and are selling them way under list. They will add the power modifications if you want them. The price is so good I was tempted to buy one myself, but really have no need for the SF version of the bike. Plus it's so much fun rolling the throttle on, (effortless wheelies), that I'm sure I'd get in trouble with the law. I have no connection with them other than having bought a couple of new bikes and some other stuff from them. Norm |
So the dealer does the power kit install for you? If so, thats really nice of them.
|
Hope I didn't make it sound like they did the mod's for nothing. They're going to charge for doing it of course. Still, their price for the SF with the mod's was less than I paid for my stock KLX250S.

Maybe Bill could chime in.......... did they buy these from you or did they make their own?
I think I have enough cash saved up whats the turn around bill do you have enough parts for the kits or do I need to send my cylinder to you first? |
They bought the 351 kit and carb from Bill.
Norm |
Cool at least we know it quality Stuff and I'm happy for him, he has done a lot of work on this kit.
|
bought my gasgas from them up there Lauver I think was his name. Good folks.
|
Video
|
That's sick!
|
its a good thing your in wa that video is a great sales tactic
|
I bet he sells a ton of them
|
Awesome. If the carb doesn't make that much of a difference, all I need is the BB kit and I'll be golden...
|
Wicked. I was considering that for my next project, since I am itching for a motard and I am really not sure about the DR-Z400 SM.
I'm halfway considering a DR650, motard wheels and front brake, but this little pocket rocket sounds interesting...and my local dealer has a nice deal on a SF. |
So good to hear. I love my 250SF right now, but when I get the 351SF... Hoorah! It will be fun.
I actually got the front wheel off the orund yesterday... was checking my mail, reved it up some and then dumped the clutch and the front wheel came up about a foot or so! haha... i didnt have to rev too much do to the smaller rear wheel and better traction of the SF. 351 soon to come.... |
i wanted to try that beast out, but they sold it the day before i went over to test it
|
I want those decals!!!!!!!
Klx 351 s |
I can wheelie my bike without using the clutch on 2nd gear with the 351! And I'm using a 15t sprocket! I have almost 600 miles on it in less than 3 weeks. I hate using the clutch to pop it up. I want my clutch to last long!

I think I am going to build one of these.
I love my KLX S, but in reality I spend 99% of my time riding on the road or dirt roads. Sat on a SF today and loved the stance of it. I think this bike is just more practical for the type of riding I do. (Commuting, canyon and service road exploring.) The trick is, I want more power- the KLX S lacked some oomph to get out of turns and when climbing long steep hills at altitude (Northen Colorado). So I pretty much decided on a DR-Z400 SM, but a local dealer has a SF going for a great price. I could get the SF, Bill Blue 351 kit and FMF P-bomb header for less than the DRZ. Plus, the dealer has a bike dyno! Hopefully the built SF would be a superior bike. I certainly like the styling more. Bonus if I can mount my 2007 FMF Q4 to the 2009 SF- I believe it would fit even though the 2009 has a different part number. The 2009 muffler might be a little different to avoid melting the turn signal, but I will be putting on an Edge tail light and blinkers anyway. |

I rode that bike too. It was quite a lot of fun. As a matter of fact, I bought the first MSF bike they offered for sale. I've been accumulating the parts to do my conversion since Bill wasn't ready to sell the bike outright yet. :( Oh and I live in Burlington. Michael |
Michael, did you by any chance ask what they'd charge to do the conversion? I asked about it but it seems they are having trouble getting an answer from Bill since he's gone a lot.

Norm I chose to do the work myself because, well, it's what I do for fun. :) Michael |
cassandra told me that for en extra $1500 when i bough my bike i could have the kit, pipe, and carb installed

Thread resurrection! :-)
I believe this is the bike I purchased this afternoon from the original owner up in Sedro-Wooley. Said he bought the bike from Skagit Powersports with the 351kit, FMF Power bomb header/FMF muffler, pumper carb and pro taper handle bar on it from the dealer. The original invoice/paperwork I have shows a sale date of 8/27/09 with 504 miles on it. He also gave me the dyno sheet showing the different states of tune (stock/big bore kit only/bigbore and pipe/bigbore, pipe and carb). I can try to scan/post the dyno graphs if anyone is still interested. |
Cool story. Please post those dyno sheets. Would be cool to see the different setups tested on the same dyno. ZrexRich 1100 or 1200? I have an 05 1200.

My bike has just a few more mods than the original 351. I've only managed to rack up a little over 400 miles on it over the last few years unfortunately. I've toyed with the idea of selling it hence my question. Thanks, Michael |

My first ZRX was a 99' 1100 that I went a little overboard on(swapped in a 1200 engine, did a 2mm overbore(1224) and turbocharged it. From what I remember, it put out 241hp and 177ft lbs torque at 14 lbs. of boost. Next was a 03' 1200 that I kept fairly stock(piped/jetted). The 99' got parted out and the 03' sold. The proceeds went to one of my current rides...a 05' BMW K1200S. If you do some digging on the ZRXOA board, you can find 1224 turbo build thread. |

Well, I scanned the dyno sheets but was unable to figure a way to upload them to Photobucket, so I took pic's of the sheets and uploaded the results that way. Sorry for the poor pic quality.

Thanks, Michael I basicly gave him what he owed on the loan...$3450. Bike has a little over 2700 miles on it. |
Good stuff, thanks!

I'm happy to help :-)
From what I've gathered in Marcelino's cam mod thread, this mod isn't worth doing on a big bore? Does anyone have results for the different Web cams? |

Tiger has the web 101 cams on his bike with the 351, i don't think he ever had it dyno tested though. Also 1 hp difference over the stock carb seems to be reason enough to justify it IMO. I wonder if you have the Bill Blue 34mm pumper ? Maybe the 36mm Mikuni would net a slightly larger increase ? |

That last run with 29.5 hp were from the big bore kit, pipe & stock carb mods? Or was that with a pumper carb?
