Well I know it's not the same part, that's why I ask if it will fit.
The '06-'07 have a 220mm brake disc and the '09+ have a 240mm brake disc.
I know the same wheel fit if you change the brake disc but I also know they don't share the same swing arm so I was wondering if I replace the brake caliper and holder it would work.
I know they share the same axel size, I don't know about the width of the caliper holder and I don't know about the slot that goes along the swing arm. From picture they look alike but do they fit?

 

Just swap the disc when you swap wheels. Cost nothing.

 

That's what I do now, but those bolt are not meant to be unscrewed all the time, they go round really easy.

 

Yeah, I found that too. I don't think you have much option but to shell out the cash for an OEM disc unfortunately

 

Two possibilities:

• put a Keensert steel thread insert in the aluminum. I've seen this done when a fastener is frequently changed out in an aluminum part. The insert is permanently installed in the aluminum allowing steel on steel for the frequently removed fastener. The Keensert is a special insert that threads in then lock pins are tapped down to lock it.
  
  
• Machine a set of quick release pins that will thread into the fork, machined with minimum slip fit clearance on the caliper. Machine circlip grooves and a split pin hole (secondary stopper) to make the quick removal. Use new circlips installed with proper pliers every time you change out. Use a clip in the hole as a back up. Now you have a quick release caliper. The small amount of play would be no big deal. shoot, that's what they already have with the floating caliper set up.

But personally I'd find another rotor of one size or the other. Heck the convenience of the quick wheel swap would be worth a hundred bucks right off the top!

 

Hi, just want to let you know that the 2009 rear caliper does fits the on the 2007 swingarm.
Even though nobody could confirm, I took a chance and ordered a complete 2009 rear brake caliper from ebay and it fits perfectly, no mod needed. Of course you need the 240mm disk brake instead of the 220mm but that was the point of swaping!
