Gary, when you say it won't start - you haven't overlooked the clutch lever/kickstand lock-out circuitry have you? (Probably not but I had to ask)

Mine has been bypassed, but thats not to say that there still may be an isssue with it.

I'm sorry, I have failed us. I tried most conceivable combinations on hooking the 300 CDI up and couldn't get it to work. At one point I was blowing my main fuse every time that I turned the key on. (that was a little scary!) So I have decided to wait for more (or better) information before continuing this pursuit. I havn't given up.....just being cautious.[sm=headbang.gif]

No problem vfrpilot - you definitely pushed the boundaries, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but you always learn something new in the process. Sometimes I'll do something like that and like you not succeed right away, but sometime later get an "aha" moment where I suddenly understand what went wrong and then go back and make it work. At any rate, thanks for giving it go - takin' one for the team right there!

ORIGINAL: Bad Bear

I was just wondering why you would try this seems it would have about the same unit. Have you heard of it being a better performer? I'm not saying you shouldn't try it just curious what made you think of it.
I would guess you would use the same plug as a KLX 300 uses as long as its the same size and length into the head.
Let us no if you notice any difference.
My dealer here in Japan has done the mod. He said it effectively moves the rev limit higher. Unless you live in the upper RPM range, as he does while racing pro stock supermoto, I wouldn't recommend this mod. To each his own though.

Yep - perhaps a possible source for those nice d-tracker plastics everyone has been drooling over Tremor38 could do a nice little business for himself supplying us with those hard-to-get parts.
