Default KLX250S sales figures?

I wonder what the sales figures have ben in Q4 of '05 and Q1 of '06? It seems like every bike that hits the floor sells within a few weeks. I took my bike in the the first service (600 mile valve check) and there was another brand new KLX250S on the showroom floor. I guess this dealer sells a lot of dual sports and although they've requested 6 or 8 for the year, they have only gotten their 2nd one.

I rode my bike with the 13/45 gearing today. Along with the Muzzy exhaust and other mods and I almost chuckle thinking about how the bike performaned the first day I brought it home. The salesguy grinned when he heard my fire her up to take her to the shop aoroudn hte back. I told my dealer they could take it for a spin down the street to see the potential the bike has when it's opened up.

By the way, the bike just rips with the new gearing. It makes the gearing perfectly spaced for maximum accelration all the way up to it's top speed of 85-90mph. Each shift near redline, drop the revs down to about 8000 RPM. I always hit the limiter in 1st and 2nd gear. The engine is sooooo smooth you don't even think you're reving that high yet. The lower gearing also keeps you over 5000 RPM most of the time which is where the motor wants to be. Too much fun!

It doesn't even feel like the same bike. It pulls harder than a stock DR-Z400. It really shoots out of a 20 or 30mph turn on agravel roads and gets up to 60 mph pretty quick, spinning the rear tire the whole time.

Also, the bike seems to be starting easier and can come off choke sooner and holds a steady idle at a wide range of engine temps.

Yes, you need a new chain. I don't have a part number to recommend because I accidentally ordered a non o-ring chain. I'll have to see how it work out. Just go to one of the online motorccyle parts stores and pick one out. You need a 108 Link chain (stock has 106). You can order a 110 and shorten it. You'll need a chain tool to get the stock one off and shorten the new one. I also highly recommend a $50 electric impact wrench for removing the axle bolt, front sprocket and with the chain tool. It will make life 1000x easier. Feel free to order a nice cordless DeWalt model for $200, but the cheap $50 one seem to work fine.

The chain your looking for is a 520 O-Ring or X-Ring chain good for bikes up to 500cc. Some will be suggested for off-road use as opposed to street use.
