Default KLX250S 2012 Shift lever

Can anyone recommend a LONGER shift lever for the above bike?

I find it tricky to ride with such a short lever and the boots I have.

Thank you

Yes, that's the one for the XR650. Im using it now. I'm a size 13 shoe and it works well enough.

I had the MSR lever... ended up replacing it with a stock XR650 lever from fleabay. The MSR lever is very stiff. There are many reports of it transferring damage to the shift components in the case if you crash on the left side. The stock lever will bend. I imagine many folks are running the MSR without issue, I just decided I did not want to take the chance. The stock XR650 lever works great for me.

Other option if you or a friend can weld - cut the shifter and weld in a piece to lengthen it...

But I also understood the XR650L shifter works and is maybe longer. Go measure one to see if it is longer. Many shifters run the same size/count splines, which are usually standard sizing.

Just avoid getting too strong a shifter. Shifters are easy to bend back and cheap to replace versus a broken shift shaft or other damage in the mechanism.

I put a yamaha banshee shifter on my 09, just changed the bends a bit.

Wow! Rotate that shifter up 90 degrees and it's a tank shift. Lol

Don't do it! That specific lever - the MSR steel xr650L lever - is far too rigid for the KLX. I snapped two shift shafts because of it on two consecutive days. And I'm not the only one it has happened to.

Maybe try a stock XR650L lever, or aluminum aftermarket one. Something that is kinda flimsy. It sucks to bend a shifter, but - trust me - it sucks a lot more to break the shaft from the motor.
