Thanks for the offer , very reasonable . I'm going to try tsc's muffler mod this weekend . I bought some 1" ss pipe today and it's snowing like crazy here so , rather than sitting around the woodstove all weekend , I will get out to the shop and make some noise . Will let you know how it goes . Have a good one .

Please do. I've made up exhausts on almost every bike I've owned, and it's lots of fun.

Our wood stove is the only heat soure in our house. I've used wood stoves for home heating since 1971. There's nothing like the comfort of quiet radiant heat

.

Nice ! Very cosy . Well , I've cut out the peashooter (with assistance from the forum here ) and made up a new end piece . Just have to get it welded to see how the sound is going to be . So far , so good . The sound is a nice low tone , but a bit load with no end pipe . I will see how the one inch piece works out . If too restricted I may go to an inch and a half . It's all fun .

You should be fine with one inch. For reference, the R model is 13/16" and it doesn't restrict the engine at all.

I made this one up from a different parts for my DRZ400. FMF Powerbomb head pipe, cut short and gutted muffler, with Supertrappp tuning disks and an XR's only billet end cap.

Well ' I've just had the muffler welded up and I'm quite pleased nice look and nice deep tone while still being quiet . To me anyways . I've learned something along the way . IE: when you buy tubing it is measured on the OD . So the one inch SS tubing that I bought ( thick wall ) has an ID of 3/4 inch . This made the bike just sound like stock ( a vacuum cleaner ! ) So I bought some 1 1/4 piping . Piping is measured by ID , who knew ? A piece 1 1/2 inches long welded to the outlet gave the sound that I was after . A real ta da moment .

If anyone is interested in doing this mod on a 250 , I used a 1 inch hole saw with a 1/4 inch bolt ( to replace the drill bit ) to act as a mandrill with washers double nuted on the end . This worked quite well but you need to know that there are 2 ends on the muffler about an inch apart so after you cut through the end cap you need to grind off a 1/16th of an inch on the peashooter as your hole saw may ( will ! ) bottom out . After drilling the second partition .. Then the entire peashooter will just pop out in your hand . You could just stop there as the muffler will sound pretty good , and not look too terrible . YMMV . It was still a tiny bit loud for me but I did a drive by for my wife in the driveway and she actually thought it sounded pretty sweet ! Welding the 1 1/4 pipe just tames the sound a little bit and gave the look that I was after . A great ( and cheap ! ) modification .
