Default KLX in Snow with Trials Tire

TiGeR started a thread recently: https://www.kawasakiforums.com/forum...-my-klx-36863/
After yesterday's ride in the snow, I'm going to second that opinion!

Yesterday, we went for a little ride up to the Boise Foothills. 8th street to Trails 4 & 6 for any of you locals. Me on the KLX, an XR250, and a couple WR250s. The parking lot was empty except for one truck, and those guys showed up from their ride as we were getting ready. Cool. Shouldn't be many others out there.

The KLX is shod with an aging, nearly worn out trials tire on the rear and a TMII up front. The other guys had good knobbies. It snowed the night before, so trails in the shade and at higher elevations were snow covered, up to about 1".

Play Nice! You can see Rooster coming up the trail on the XR.

It's not the warmest day. Heated grips are nice.

Here's Rooster coming up an icy road. Rooster up

and the Yamis

We're going to try this road. Trucks have been going up and down, making the road pretty darn slick.

wr250 gives it a try - stay out of the vehicle tracks. They're slick.

Going up

He gives it another try. And another. And he finally makes it up. I follow him and zip right up the hill. One rider, the smartest of us all, bails out, so we come down. I want a vid of me going up, so hand the phone-cam off to another. I pick the hardest, slickest line I can find and go. (give the vid a second - he didn't know where the lens was).

What's so hard about that?? Trials tires rock! Combined with the smooth power delivery from our KLX and its CVK carb, its a very comfortable combination on the slick stuff, to the point of getting over-confident at times.

Time for a break. Then head back down to the dirt and loop around some trails.

p.s. anyone know how to embed photobucket vids here? Or do I need to youtube them?

Looks like a fun day!

I vote for Youtube for the vids. Photobucket and my computer don't play nice. Could be because I don't have a photobucket account?

No, not a MT43. A Shinko 'golden boy' 3.5x18. This thread shows it unused against the used rubs
https://www.kawasakiforums.com/forum...-tire-s-35829/. Looks kinda puny against the 130.
here's what it looked like last weekend. I'd like to know what a new shoe would do . Was running about 15 lbs pressure. I'd bet something around 10 psi or so would just rip in the slick.
