KLX Shorter Rider (Seat Shave)
Hey group,
Does anyone have a good link (or several good links) that show how to shave a seat? I’m 5’7” with a 28” inseam and can barely tip toe on the KLX 300 in the showroom. So, before I buy it I want to be sure I can make some changes to lower it without using a lowering link. I think if I can shave off 0.5 - 0.75 of an inch … and then maybe buy some Doc Martin boots with a thicker sole/heel - maybe that will be enough??? I am also wondering if the low profile seat concepts - seat would be a better option instead, but the fact that it gets wider makes me think that the flaring out wider would take up 0.25” of leg length which would defeat the purpose of buying a lower seat?

My other bike, I got a lowered seat & then took the cover off and shaved it down more with an elec kitchen knife and restapled the cover with a heavy duty staple gun. As relating to the width comment, I concure, I made the front of the seat low and narrow as possible so at a stop I can scoot up and put my feet down, while riding I'm back and at a wider area on the seat. If the seat is wider, even if it's lower and your standing, that's going to be a problem.
