They only recommend behind the left radiator shroud. Some have managed to use the stock tank in that spot. Bill Blue took his off completely, but he also uses Engine Ice. He said he hasn't had any boilover and he rides in Colorado.

Anyone know of a small plastic auxiliary tank that would fit our bikes? Those aluminum tanks look nice but seem like overkill.

Thanks rebl617, that's what I was thinking too.
MotionPro makes a nifty little 50¢ coolant bottle for $35.
So far other than an initial burp, haven't spewed any coolant without the bottle(that includes low speed, high rpm running off-road as well).
