Klr250 vs klx250
I had an 04 klr250 and it was a good bike. I really enjoyed it except off road. I could putt around in 1st and 2nd gear and not feel as if it wanted to stall. Where as my 06 klx250 1st and 2nd gear you have to be careful not to stall. Would gearing help with the wanting to stall issue?i would like to keep my bike road worthy. The klr250 had 15/44 gearing(stock gearing) and it was damn near perfect for me. Also had a dynojet stage 2 kit which was a (dj)118 main jet stock 35 pilot i removed snorkel and opened the hole about 3"x4" . My 06 klx250 has stock gearing 14/42 and I have a (dj) 140 main lidless air box with klx300 needle 1 notch 2 washers. stock 35 pilot. did not drill hole larger in carb slide. I didnt do the mcm. because id like to add a kick start. I gasket matched the header and am running a free flowing exhaust. It runs pretty good. But the power comes on very slowly in second gear. 1 gear it rips. 2nd is kinda weak. 3-6 gear I'm happy with. Should I go up on the pilot? Go down some on the main? Should I do mcm or is there a way to do mcm and still install a kickstart? From what I read you have to disconnect the kacr and apparently it's purpose it to help with kickstart. I really like the bike I'd just like to get her dialed in better. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
