Default kk 330 vs. bb 351...???

kk330 vs. bb351. what do you guys think?
i've heard/ read that the kk330 will produce more hp than the 351. i dont know if thats true plus it costs a lot more.

bb351 seems to have more customers. maybe the price/ service? and i think i've yet to read a bad review about the bb351.

I'm sure they're both good. Get whatever one you want.
I went with the 351 because it was less expensive, and bigger

Hard to believe there would be much difference in performance. If I understand correctly, the KK stuff has coated cylinders instead of a steel liner...right? I like coated cylinders, but I think any measueable performance difference between the two would be insignificant. And frankly, even the ultimate wear and cooling claims of superiority over steel liners are probably pretty small.

Both kits use JE piston, obviously the 351 is bigger than 331.... but supplier is style of the piston is the same.

What spooks me about the 351 kit is how very little head gasket material is left between the cylinder and the water jacket. Seems like a lot of meat is removed to make room for the 351 slug. Because of this, the smaller kits are worth a look.

I think you can ask these questions all year every day and get different answers from everybody.

What it boils down to is get whatever the hell you want! Just make your decision, and do it.

Can someone tell me why all the KK big bore kits are under 500 buck EXCEPT for the 250s kit? A kit for the 300 to make it a 330 is less then 500 bucks do they charge by how much metal they remove?

bw, I had noticed that too. The only thing I can figure out is that the 250 mod indicates that it is a brand new cylinder. The 300 mod states that they either sleeve or replate your cylinder. It really doesn't make sense to me as either cylinder will fit either bike, but maybe some want to keep their old cylinder...maybe? Just speculating.

Cousin Larry, I understand that displacement-wise there's not much difference, but depending on which KK kit one decides to go with you might be looking at plated vs. steel liners for the bore. This might be important to some, so it's a decent question.

I vaguely remember something about this. I think that the 250 cylinder has a smaller outside diameter than the 300 cylinder where it fits into the cases. So that when you over bore it you need the extra metal of the larger OD 300 cylinder. Or something like that. I can't remember for sure though. I'd ask Bill Blue.
