Rode a friends500 a few times, alsoowned a 1969A7 Avenger which was a 350 twin two-stroke.Scary fast in the straights, but allwobbly and sketchy in any kind of turn. Heard them referred to as"wobblesakis".I Ended up killing the avenger afterseazingthe engine upwhilegoing 70 on the highway[sm=noooo.gif](oil injection system failed)...that was a fun day...a long push home...also the last day I ever rode a 2 stroke street bike.

The 750 triples with a little bit of work will out accelerate modern sportbikes in a straight line.
I sold my '74 RD350 Yami the other year and I had replaced the internals with Yamaha Banshee crank, rods and pistons along with the reeds and a set of twin 34mm mikuni's....That bike was WICKED FAST!!!!!In a straight line only like the others said.I do regret selling it now as it was so much fun.I did not run the oil injection though as i ran premix which just made it impractible for long road runs.....The H2 750 was a sick fast bike in a straight line and i have seen quite a few at E-town smoke a 'Busa in the 1/4. then his buddies ask..."what the hell was that noismaker that just beat him????.....from the starting line i'd usually reply with the comment of "A bike that's prolly 5 or 10 years older than you" and smile and walk away......
Long live those old pieces of machinery.......they'll forever hold a place within my heart.I really hope to have one again.

This is the first model of the Triple. I am old enough to remember them well.

Mine was a '73. It had clip on handlebars and rear set footpegs. Old school cafe racer style.
I agree with Truckman I would love to have an old two stroke street bike again. On a side note ..... waterbuffalo's(Suzuki gt750 water cooled 3 cyl 2stroke) used to be a nice ride too, though not as fast as the Kawi's.

I just finished a ground-up restoration on a 1973 "Green Meanie" H1D 500. I sent the motor to Paul Gast ("Fast by Gast" Racing)in NY for a complete redo and modernization. Every nut, bolt, screw, wire on it is now virtually perfect. A valuable experience just taking it completely apart and then rebuilding. Thank God for digital cameras and laptops--the key to anything with many parts!

Wow, those were in great condition. I'd love to have one over here and take it to a couple of my hang-outs in the mountains every once inawhile. It would definitely draw a crowd.

These aren't photos of the actual bikes that I owned, but these are the same year, model and color scheme. However, the condition is comparable too (when I owned them). I had the S1 from 1978 to 1994 and the KH500 from 1984 to 1987. I might have some old photos somewhere....
