Just got my clarke tank

RE: Just got my clarke tank
Then I filled the tank 1/2 way up the filler neck using a full gallon each time. I measured the remaining water, and subtracted from 3 gallons. In all I got 2.625 gallons in the tank. I didn't mess with reserve, I just plugged the fittings and filled it up. I repeated the process and got the same results.
I tried to hold the tank level and the water was level in the neck when the tank was full, and some gas in the lowest part of the tank may not get used as the carb runs out of gas using reserve. YMMV on real available gas from full.
This tank will work for me becasuse it will make it possible for my commute to have two full round trips before fueling. It also matches the range on my stock DRZ well, so I can ride with friends and family without always being out of fuel first.

RE: Just got my clarke tank
Great report, can you estimate how many miles you will get on this tank before refill. Considering we get around 60 mpg then we will get 156 miles a tank? Or perhaps we should be conservitive since we have rejetted and say 50 mpg, thus 135 miles vs. the stockers 95 miles per tank, so a gain of 40 miles, thats a lot, and I think well worth it.
Also, doesn't this tank hold 70% more fuel, not 40%? Where am I wrong in my math? 1.9 / 2.7 = .70 which is 70%. Now, 2.7 x 70% = 1.9. I am math illeterate so please correct me, what am I overlooking?
Also, doesn't this tank hold 70% more fuel, not 40%? Where am I wrong in my math? 1.9 / 2.7 = .70 which is 70%. Now, 2.7 x 70% = 1.9. I am math illeterate so please correct me, what am I overlooking?

RE: Just got my clarke tank
Ya, I guess if you think about it in the locical way it makes sense, lol.
Sooo what we do is subtract 2.7 from 1.9 which gives us .8. Divide this by 1.9 and that gives us .42 or 42%, ahhhh.... Thanks for setting me right! Is there an easier way of doing that, the gears in my brain almost stripped, lol
Still it will get us 40 miles further down the road, thats pretty good.
