Default Jumping Ship

Well, I haven't been posting or around for quite some time, work, work, work ya know. Any how, I have jumped ship but not to far from our beloved KLX250's. I just traded her in on a 2008 KLR650. I have loved my experience on the KLX and have learned a lot riding her after a near 20 year break in riding. I was sad to let her go but only for sentiment sake, 7000 miles of emotions were quickly put to the back of my mind when I got on my new steed! With the limited time in the saddle I can say this bike is exactly what I was looking for. The KLR is comfy and a blast to ride. I will miss my KLX, but I am sure my mind will be busy with all the farkles I want for the new ride.

Thanks to all the info and comradery this site has provided.

Here she is, no green like I wanted but I will make due[sm=happy046.gif][sm=icon_cheers.gif]

Very nice, very nice. Did you test ride any other 650s and how does she compare?

Truthfully no, I didn't test ride any others and maybe for the wrong reasons. Mainly I have always wanted a poormans adventure bike (KLR). Even when they were ugly I loved them. Secondly, I didn't care for the styling of the other 650s.... that I could afford. The Suzuki and Honda weren't at the same comfort level as the Kawi. Plus I think she is a sexy thumping beast. I like the BMW 650 but I can't see paying 2k more for the name. I don't think there is a 650 with the same reliability reputation as the KLR, but of course now I am bias.......

I've enjoyed my '05 KLR650 enough to ride it down to South America. I think the '08 also needs the Doohickey replaced on it though! Have fun!

Very nice...... I sure like mine as well very comfy for those long rides.
Now you just need to wake up a bit by doing a few mods
Remove air box snorkle
148 main jet...Stock 145
Drill out slide vent
Install shim under needle
Let me tell you what a difference
Oh and a 14 tooth counter shaft sprocket if you plan on having it off road much.
only changed the RPM range about 700RPM
