The KLX300 muffler lists the KLX250 on it as well, you'll gain a little power and some sound, and it'll appear to be legal and should be legal, technically speaking...when and if a LEO hassles you.

I used to have the 300 dirt bike
and took out the cap and bought a larger one on ebay along with the jet kit
still got the jet kit somewhere too

I was planning on doing the same to my 250 until I realized the cap is not removable on this bike

I think the mufflers looked really similar going off memory

They do look identical, except for the opening in the end and a lack of a cat in the 300. And the stamped writing on the pipe lists the 250 as a model the pipe is for.
Thought if you are worried about being hassled, it might be an option.

I do have a couple options

see how the silencer tip I also purchased sounds
I have a db meter and will do before and after readings

maybe paint the exhaust black just to blend in and look stock

or I read on here a insert you can slide into the muffler to silence it even more

Just order a klx250r muffler for your "klx250r"...legal, not sure but it should satisfy FMF, or who ever. Or road trip for one maybe....or maybe leave it stock to be in compliance with arguably unconstitutional, draconian laws, and write a strongly worded letter to your represetivive in government.

well making progress today

first I did a db video of the stock exhaust
so when I get the new one I can compare
what do you think the db meter accurate? to what kawasaki claims
if anything as long as I use the same thing to record the new exhaust it will show any changes for me

got tracking from the exhaust shop today although not in system yet
was supposed to ship yesterday but I guess they realized the box wasnt the correct size
and saw it was misprinted not for my bike so they got a new one in today, true story who knows. Guess I will get free stickers for the delay

then still on dynojet site says order processing
well I need to know for sure if they will really send it so I call and its been shipped and will be here tomorrow
so guess there site isnt updating my order page
thats good news, jets do show tracking and will come tomorrow

and once my exhaust tracking shows up online I will be happy, so then I can get a final date
I was hoping all this stuff would arrive by saturday but with the 2 days delay in getting an exhaust I guess may be next week unless fed ex pulls of a miracle
the ebay seller is from this state and they made it seem like they shipped it themselves not dropshipped , so there could be a chance it may show up saturday
but its just a waiting game now until I get tracking to show up with a date

I'd think you'd want to take it outside of the garage to test it.

it shouldnt matter
but maybe I will get a quick reading outside

as long as I do the same distances it will show the change

I did another engine at the same time that one was much louder too
so it will read higher sounds in a closed garage

one of my meters max's out around 110 so this app meter looks like it works better at least easier to read

I found a db app for my android after watching your vid. Hadn't even thought of one before. Kinda interesting. Good luck with the pipe.
