what I was planning on doing, like I do on most bikes is either get new spark plug
or sand blast the old one after taking a pic of the color

then ride a couple weeks see how the color is
because stage 2 says use jet 128
and your saying 132 thats a pretty big increase so I dont want to be too rich and loose top end
but then I havent even looked to see how it will be to get the jets out
if its not much work then I dont mind trying couple jets see how it runs

but most of these type bikes it takes a little work to get out the carb im just spoiled to carbs easily accessible which is why I never did any work to this bike yet

at least compare the plug color to how it is now with a stock setup
I havent looked at the color yet to even see how it is from factory, im guessing on the lean side

BTW, if your bike has been dead stock - your about to be in for a big surprise. The radical increase in power is intoxicating.

Hey Mike, it's up to you Bro. All I'm trying to do is let the "cat outta the bag" regarding the power increase when you go from standard stage 2 to stage 2 132/4n near sea level with no lid and a slip-on.. I figured DJ put that 132 in our kits for a reason, after testing it and the 128, as well as going to 4th notch, I know why they did - MO POWA!

well I know some people that dont know about jetting think the bigger the jet the more power
which is wrong
but thats dealing with total jet newbs not saying thats against anyone here

because I know there is a point you go too big and you start to loose top speed
im used to jets in the 70-100 size so there its really noticeable when you go too large and too rich shows up instantly on the plug too
Im guessing the 250 engine will be very similar im used to 50-150 engines

maybe dynojet is playing it safe with there jet recommendation as it could work for all altitudes? and at least get it running for everyone

so I will see how accessible the bowl is once I tear into it
if its not a big deal to rejet a few times im willing to do that
I was under the impression the kit only came with a couple jets so if it comes with more thats cool

usually I will go very deep into jetting trying all jet sizes I can and then the needle positions
so its not a big deal if I have to with this bike

By all means, go lid-less and standard stage 2 for a few days. Then go with 132/4n. Verify my dyno testing and seat-o-pants increase with 132/4n. Meanwhile I'm gonna try to get an AFR @WOT down around 12-12.5 : 1 and dyno test that....

I agree with you about the conservative jet selections in the kit - even 132/4n has headroom for altitude increases..

well I got screwed over twice
by fmf, and california

I guess fmf is scared to ship to ca, enough to loose sales here
as the 2 online shops I had ordered from can not sell to ca
because I have a dual sport there is a chance it can go on the streets and its illegal
But its legal in ca if its for race or off road only

Well how does anyone know if this bike is 100% off road, or I could just take off muffler and put on stock to use it on the streets
and because its all about emissions
yet our neighbors to the south that drive here have some of the worse polluting cars on the road but they dont need any emission controls
yet a tiny little bike does

I can understand about noise pollution, but come on how much can this bike put out in the air

Whos to say what im going to use it for, its a muffler
could be used for many differet things maybe im doing a totally custom dirt bike exhaust I dont need CA to tell me what I may do

anyways since the 2 shops I tried only drop ship, fmf would not mail the exhaust here
and they wont, to any address in ca plain and simple

one shop said most likely they wont even ship the header, well how can a header pollute any more or less now thats just getting out of control
I think fmf is in this state, so thats probably why they are so scared

And the shop I talked to said dynojet may not ship out my jets either, but we will see about that
I cant see how jets are illegal in ca makes no sense
they are little brass things they dont pollute at all any more then a header would

my only hope is a dirt bike will use that same kit I ordered and then its cool to send out
as true dirt bikes are legal to use exhausts

I was told if a shop had the actual pipe in stock it sholdnt matter where its sent to
as fmf will have no record of shipping to Ca
but im sure most places will drop ship, no inventory for them so more profit

Found this one located in ca, but at least the ebay sale has no mention of being illegal in for use here Kawasaki KLX 250 s s F O Series Slip on Exhaust Pipe 03 8260 SOE | eBay

the stores that was selling the fmf I wanted did have a warning but I had figured my bike can be used as off road or racing so figured it was just one of those warnings not enforced but if fmf has to ship it out then they will refuse to

so now I got like $800 floating around waiting to be refunded and clear

did see some knockoff bomb headers
im not going to get one, at least until im sure this new exhaust ships

just wonder if anyone used this type
New s s Bomb Exhaust Head Header Pipe 2006 13 Kawasaki KLX250S KLX250SF KLX250 | eBay

so after looking on dynojet site they also have ca disclamer
so I called to see if they will send, or not

they said they have no control what I would do with the jets and will send them no problem

but my order is still processing so I will have to see just to make sure
once I get shipping info I will be happy

but even if they dont send I can always drill out the main
just wont have the needle they supply

the dg exhaust from ebay said it will ship out today and I ordered a silencer from them too
not listed on the site

so thats cool they will ship to ca and hopefully dynojet too

who would of thought an exhaust would be so much trouble to get here just as hard as guns now

Ah.. my DG-R slip-on is very loud. (Just the way I like it..)
What DG exhaust did you get?
The DJ needle is the biggy - Perhaps one of us can take delivery of the kit and send it to ya..?
