I like this bike for what it is but BOY!, IS IT EVER UNDERPOWERED! Many here seem to be happy with it but I think it needs another 8-10 HP in stock form. Just saying. . . .

That's why God makes a big bore kit.

I agree, great bike but needs to be a 450. Its easier for me to just sell it and but the ktm I want.

Then you will be ktmdude

But I agree, IMHO, it's easier to just buy the bike you want than try and make the klx something it will never be.
Even though i'm happy with my klx, and I will be keeping it for a while, if I was starting out now, knowing what I know now, I would have chosen a differnt bike.

Just sayin

Do whatever makes you happy. I also disfavor the lack of power in our bikes, but hey, you can't really expect THAT much from a single cylinder 250.

Obviously your choice. But it cracks me up when I read all the mods, time and money you guys spend on the KLX, but still aint happy with the power!
As has been said, its only a 250 single after all. You must have realised when you bought it that it has power limitations, even with mods.
Personally, I love it for what it is. Damn sure I'd rather buy a bike with more ponies (or a larger one) for the extra $'s, than spend heaps modding a bike only to still be disappointed!

Speak for yourself...and I believe you did.

I luv to ride my buddies ktm 300 xc-w .... but ya know what I really like my klx too. Now I got a ktm 640 for the torque fix..lol....but I luv my klx for what it is......a ktm 300 smoker would never replace it......shoot I could ride the sucker across the country without an oil change, even with the big bore....but its still only a 340....but I could see why ya want to switch out....If I wanted to haul azz and have a fast bike....obviously this would not be the choice...but for me its ok....well a little lacking but ok.

I find that if you want to go fast on the KLX you have to ride it like a 2 stroke and keep it on the pipe. You can make it go fast but you have to be aggressive with the throttle and ride it with your body. It does not have the bottom end and grunt of a larger bore bike, but if you keep it buzzing at around 6 grand it will haul. You also need a decent tire on the *** end to hook it up in the dirt.
Hey Finger how do you like the 640. Would you ride it on a mexico to Panama trip? okr would you rather have a bigger bike like an F800Gs?
