You may have it a bit TOO loose.

 

Ground off the pins and used a wrap or two of electrical tape to give some purchase to the controls, has worked just fine on a few bikes. Adding a hole will just add frustration when you decide to change the angle of the bars and want to tweak the position of the controls.

Hey Joel, did you have to change anything, like mounts, to fit the fat bars. What about all the controls made for standard bars, how do they fit the fatties?

 

Hey Graham, you will need some new bar clamps for the fatter bars! The UX3 clamps also raise the bars by 1.5"inches which I like. I went for Zeta Motard medium bend bars.....They are a little wider & little more forward than stock!! For me as a tall man with long arms, this riding position is fantastic for me.







To answer your question, the bars are only fat in the middle & at the bends...for extra strength....they also look better than stock. The end of the handlebars tapers off to the original size, so all the grips & controls work/fit the same as stock.
