Default Installing exhaust system and jet kit tonight.. Any last words?!

haha.. I'm following the write-up on removing the carb here: http://www.hmfengineering.com/forums...ead.php?t=1617

And the exhaust I'm not worried about installing - it's mainly the jet kit as I've never participated in any carburator shenanigans before!

I ride usually between sea level, and 500-1k at the VERY most..

I was thinking I'd take the air box lid off, and put the exhaust on (FMF Q4 full kit) - and I have the dynojet kit for the KLX300.. I was thinking 128 main jet? And what about the needle?

Any inspiring and helpful words/direction would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Thanks guys

Once you get the diaphram out make your adjustments quick. You will have less of a chance of the diaphram swelling. If it does, stick it in the freezer for a little.

in addition to the hmf site, i also used the write-up and pics from "dirtsurfers mod day" which i found here in the faq section. very helpful. i followed the recommended settings in the dj kit and found them to be right on.

It's done!

finally.

The exhaust was cake, taking out the carb was a PITA. I'm sure next time will be much quicker now that I know how to do it.

Fired it up - first shot, idles perfect. Let it warm up, and took it for a rip. It's like a whole new bike now! Not very much louder at idle or when putting, but when you open it up it thumps pretty good

Settings - FMF kit, c-clip at 4th notch, 132 main jet, 2.5 turns out. Seems perfect. I thought 128 was what everyone did - but the FMF writeup said to use the 132.. Should I try the 128 or keep it there?

Also - that air line that comes out the bottom of the carb right under the diaphragm - is that just supposed to vent? Or should it be hooked up somewhere?

Supposed to be sunny tomorrow - I'll be riding in to work, and stopping in the woods on my way home!

see, there really WAS a dirtbike in there. i rode around 9 months thinking my bike was pretty decent, now jetted and piped the bike is absolutely fantastic. unfortunately, the newfound power has me noticing the suspension more. every time i gas it, the back end mushes down and the front end raises!!! i can see moto pro in my future.

that's a vent line on the carb. there's 2 of them right? if the bike is running good with the 132 main then just leave it in. what did you do with the airbox lid?

Airbox lid is completely off.

Today once I noticed a TINY split second stumble when going to WOT.. - nothing after that.. Could that mean too rich?
