Fans mounted
OK, with the help of Brian (nobrakes) I've got the new fans mounted. I went with weatherproof fans from Comair-Rotron as stated above but I used two smaller units in place of the one big one. The fans are Comair-Rotron part number 032686 and the model number is CR0612HB-D71GL. These are 60x60x15mm and move 17cfm.
I ordered mine from Arrow Electronics (arrownac.com). FWIW, this vendor is awesome! Overnight delivery of the fans even though I didn't place the order until 4pm CDT. Best price I found too.
Anyway, here's some pictures of the fan install:
Fans and bracket (thanks Brian!). Note OEM fan wire harness cut off 1/2" from the OEM fan motor.
Here's the room we have to work with:
Here's the bracket in place (painted with the do-everything Duplicolor Bed Liner!):
With the fans mounted:
Small strip of flashing mounted on the right edge of fans to direct air:
All done:
I tested this setup by running the engine in the drive for a while until they kicked on. They came on, ran for about 2 min. than shut down. Despite their small size, you could really feel the hot air coming off them.

RE: Fans mounted
Nice work, Todd, as usual. Glad your bracket arrived in good shape. It's on my list to replace my non-weather-proof fans with some like you found - thanks for the part number. Also, I like that black color - I may have to paint mine now.
I feel pretty good about this fan setup. Mine kicked on over the weekend while blazing some paths through briars and thickets, downed logs and such. It was slow going and the temp was pretty warm. The fans kicked on a couple of times, but I never did see the engine temp light come on and they always kicked off after a few minutes.

RE: IMS tank project
I would like to ask anyone that may have an interest in this tank but is concerned about the work required to fit it to the KLX250S to contact IMS customer support (phone or email) in support of my campaign to have them offer a modified version.
I've contacted them with my thoughts on what changes are required and we have a couple of local LA residents which have imported from NV that may be willing to let them use their bikes for fitment. Now I'd like to show them an indication of demand.

BUMP!
Here's to resurrecting a dead post!
After installing an IMS tank on my 2012, I don't see where the fitment issues would come when trying to fit that tank on a 2006-2007 model except for the fitment of the plastics.
Has this been addressed or is there some common knowledge about fitment on 2006s now that IMS introduced the 2009+ tank?
Thanks in advance!
TC
