I ordered the same morning that I received the email.

First off I washed out the tank with hot water. Let it sit out in the sun to dry out. Have heard horror stories about molding debris left inside that clogs up everything, just as a precaution.

Well I finished installing the IMS tank. I started this thread about an hour ago. So the total install can be done in less than one hour. I made a call to IMS about the wiring loom position (stays in the stock position) and the rear mount rubber grommet (yes take it off the stock tank to use on the tab provided) for the tab that needs to be bolted on the IMS tank. I didn't perform the drilling of the tank shrouds like in the instructions picture fig #2. Its for an extra mounting screw (provided) on each side for the shrouds. I many use it in the future but not at this time as I don't think it needs it. I didn't have to deal with the vent hoses (smog stuff) as they were not there for some reason heh heh.

The worst part is that new location I used to mount the horn, the IMS tank uses that space. Oh well....

Looks just like a stock tank! I can't tell the difference.

IMS was easy to deal with, Steve was more than helpful and way cool to work with.

Thanks for the post mate. Can I ask a favour? Can you try take a pic of the gap between the top of the carb and the bottom of the tank? I am concerned that the IMS tank will take more space than the stock one - which I had to shim up with a couple of washers in order to have some clearance between the top of the FCR35 carb and the tank.

I have the fcr35 also. There is at least .25" between the tank and the top of the fcr35.

In the stock location its hanging there out in the open. So I remounted it above the left radiator getting it out of harms way. But the IMS uses that space so I remounted it again...

I went to the gas station & filled it up..... don't be expecting 3.0 gallons. I put alittle in to make it to the gas station, and it only took 2.78 gallons. So I figure it is a 2.9 gallon tank.... But its a nice fitting great looking tank. You can't even tell its not stock.

Looks like MUCH easier install than the old tank for 06/07 bikes. Good job IMS.

And you guys with the newer bikes are bunch of lazy butt instant gratification gen-X'ers for having it that easy!

The tank looks good.

I'm still on the fence between this one and the Acerbis, for capacity reasons - for me 3 gallons just isn't enough to eliminate the need to carry extra fuel. But, Hell, even the Acerbis is smaller than I'd like.

RaceGass, is there any chance you can run this thing bone dry and then get an exact measurement of what it takes to refill? Inquiring minds want to know...
