I suspect that they'll build the prototype and then measure what it holds.

I just email IMS because I'm also in for a new tank, i don't care what color. I expressed The four things that are of major concern to me and most of you it seems is;

1) price
2) size
3) If the gas will empty or just sit in the wings of the tank
4) How well it fits with regards to an easy instal

From IMS, in an email I got 5/27:

"I got in touch with our R&D guy, and told me they are looking at around the end of July – early August before they expect the tank will be complete. Hope this helps somewhat!"

I have pictures of the prototypes & mockups. It looks like the OEM plastic will fit perfectly and look great. I don't know how much more it's going to hold though, but it doesn't look like we're going to have to wait much longer.

Well it looks like "6 months" is down to 6 weeks. Looking forward to waiting the 6 days it takes for the mail to get to me.

If it maintains a "stock appearance" I'm in. I think that the shroud tank is butt ugly. A extra gallon of fuel would be nice.

I did a ride today with a buddy who rides a Yamaha WR250R, that he recently installed an IMS 4.8 gal shroud style tank. Not too esthetically pleasing, but he never came close to running out of gas.

After a 170 mile section of the ride, he still had two gallons remaining. He said he didn't 'experience a weight problem with the extra three gallons.

No way the KLX tanks will hold much more than stock w/o the shrouds, maybe a gallon, but not three more, like his. Guess we'll see soon...dd50
