Default IMS and Acerbis on 06: fitment issues

I'm ready to pull the trigger on an aftermarket tank to greatly extend my range.

Acerbis vs IMS, I've done a bunch of research and feel I understand the pros and cons of each. What I'm not quite sure about is fitment. My bike is 06 - do both/either mount right up, with little/minimal issues?

Seems I recall reading somewhere that one of these tanks had a potential interferance issue with the choke ****. And maybe the IMS tank on 06/07 bike results in a gap between the seat and tank. But I can't seem find the thread on here to confirm either.

Cool

I have an IMS on my 06. Great settup. There are a few issues. Move the coil, rubber strap, trim the shrouds. No choke problem.

Thank you for the reply.

Just so I'm clear, IMS site lists a tank for 09-14 Carb bike. Is this the same tank you have?

Thank you, the before and after pictures are very helpful.

May I ask, where exactly is the petcock located on that Acerbis tank? I'm curious how far down on the wing the outlet is located. Might you have a photo of that?

In the last photo you can see the choke **** is extended and it's lightly touching between the front bolt of the petcock and the fuel line (which is also directly connected to the petcock).

I use the Acerbis on my '12. I like the side 'wings' that also act as rad guards. I've definitely crash tested them(repeatedly) and it has held up perfectly.

NEWPARTSRULE,

Just doubling back, can you confirm which IMS tank model you have on your bike? Wondering if the 09+ one will mate up cleanly to the 06 vintage.
