2k, i would never want to be anyone to tell you all how much nicer the the wr is but ... i should say it's just way different. here's my opinion after having the bike home for one day, and only a three minute ride around my neighborhood. also remember that this wr (250F, not the dual sport) comes pretty corked up for CA emissions. i haven't cut the grey wire, removed the exhaust baffle, or most importantly (from what i've read) removed the throttle stop that restricts you to 3/4 of a full throttle rotation. my 07 klx was just what i wanted it to be when i bought it - a street legal bike that could handle some dirt. problem became, i rode nearly no street not long after i bought it. so, i ended up with a really heavy, soft bike that was PRETTY good at everything. i began mod'ing it and could see that wasn't gonna end anytime soon. fmf system, vortex throttle, 13/47 did wonders for the motor, utah skid plate and clarke tank made up for the weight lost by removing turn signals, rack, horn, mirrors, etc. i'm definately not bashing my klx, like i said, it did just what i wanted when i bought it. truth is, i don't need to be plated that badly. my wr is really focused. before anyone says it, i know a 2 stroke, or a ktm anything, or a motocrosser would be more focussed. i haven't set my suspension yet, but even on this wr "trail bike" it is pretty stiff, seat is flat and hard, all around a really cool bike that is what i want RIGHT NOW. who knows what i'll want later. i'm happy. thanks for listening. again, i wish i could have 'em both. dan
The wr was the the bike that I really wanted at the time i bought the klx. Problem was I need a plate on it, and still need a plated bike. My next bike will probably be a ktm which can be easily plated. I will most likely also keep the klx and un-do some of my mods and keep it for the around town and exploring bike.
well, after my first 1/2 hour ride on dirt, i can say that i'm 100% satisfied that i made a good decision. incredible. sure, we all get excited when something is brand new and different, however, in just a really quick ride with a totally restricted bike, i'm just blown away. can't describe it really, but we all know the feeling.
