I have had my KLX up to 87 mph and it wasn't flat out

With a 13/52 combo, the ratio is 4.0.. That’s A LOT of torque.. Especially when most of the postings I’ve read are in the 3.45 to 3.65 range....

I agree, I think is possible that you’re comparing apples and oranges....

I just bought a sidewinder try-metal 49 tooth rear sprocket and decided to leave the front one alone based on the posting to date.

Even that would only get me to a ratio of 3.5...... I think if I wanted more then that, I would have to rethink the purpose of why I got this bike vs. just staying with my 2 stroke or going to the DZ400.......

 

I had a 49 tooth renthal on for a brief time with the 14 stock front. That was a very big change from stock - no problem bringing the front up with that. But I thought that 6th gear was a little buzzy at highway speeds to me so I went back to stock. So I'm getting my torque by a different approach - overbore for more displacement and retain the stock gearing. In a perfect world, I'd change the internal gear ratios for a lower 1st, higher 6th, and spread the others out in between.
