Question I Need A Part -- Can Anyone Help?

I installed my Moose Racing handguards tonight. I followed the instructions...somewhat.

It said to slide the throttle body off the end of the bar about two inches and cut it off. Well, I slid it off about an inch and cut it off.

Well, I got everything installed, and now my grip is dragging my bar. I should have just trimmed off the end of the throttle body. I'm a newb.

So -- I need a throttle body. My nearest shop is over 30 miles away, so I'd like to find something online.

Anywhere know anywhere to look and what different models may work.

Thanks for helping me out!

Can you take a picture of what you did? Do you need and entire new throttle?

I'm not sure what aftermarket parts might fit, but worst case you can go to some place like www.ronayers.com and buy the OEM part:

Parts found with Part Number: 46019-1093
Description GRIP-ASSY,THROTTLE
Price $17.22

Kind of pricey, but not too horrendous. That part is for the '07, I don't know what year you have so you may want to double check the part number again if you have an '09. I doubt it has changed, but better safe than sorry.

It's an '09. Thanks for the help. Didn't know where to find OEM parts.

No pictures tonight.

Damn! $17.22 is expensive for just a pice of plastic. All I need is the tube that fits over the handlbar -- the part that you slide the grip onto and turn to give the throttle. I assume that the correct term is throttle body tube...???

ETA: Yup -- that's what I needed! Thanks!

Maybe tip in a bit more and go for the Vortex throttle?

What is that? Advantages? Cost? Ease of installation?

Do a search, there is plenty written already.
Basically it shortens the action of the throttle making the bike "feel" more responsive.
I think it's about $35?

Here ya go.

Yebbut the OEM part looks like you can only buy the tube + the rubber grip together as the one part number. I didn't see a seperate item for just the throttle tube. Try the parts fiche on www.ronayers.com or any of the several OEM part places and you can find the parts you need using the parts fiche diagrams.

That's fine. I'll just rip the tube off since I have a set of grips, NIB, waiting for me anyway.

This will be my 3rd set of grips on a bike w/ 700 miles. :-(
