I joined the big jug club
well, it's now official. I am no longer planning to sell my KLX. Lastnight, Matt so graciously sold me ONE of his 300cc cylinders. Matt says it's in the mail. I'm really looking forward to eventually by spring having it bored to 330 and really waking the bike up. Then, in spring '08 I will go with a pumper carb. Anyways, I'm pretty excited I took advantage of Matt's offer. This really is something I should've done last summer. Anyways, it's a great feeling. I do believe he still has one big jug left for anyone interested. I'm sure he'll make you a great deal if you're interested.
Nobrakes- when you did the 330 kit, and had your oem carb on, what were your jet sizes and a/f set at? This is something I'll have to adjust I'm sure and no better time than when the carb is totally accessible. I'm at 35 pilot jet, 128 main, and 2.5 turns. I'm thinking probably going to 40 pilot, 130-132 main, and no idea on the a/f.

Congrats, you won't be disappointed with 331. I'm glad to see you opting to go straight to larger bore. Not that there is anything wrong with 300, but 331 is even more of a good thing.
My carb settings were 35 pilot, 130 main, clip on 3rd position, and fuel screw at 2.0 out. At that time, I had the high flow snorkel installed. I'd say if you pulled the airbox lid you could go a little higher on the main. I'm also pretty much at sea level, so you may need to adjust for your altitude.
The stock carb had one heck of a mid-range hit with that setup. I was totally impressed when I whacked the throttle in the mid-range, it just pulled and pulled. Those settings were my best first guess and seemed to work OK so I didn't bother trying to dial it in better. My previous settings were #35, #125, 2nd clip position, and 2.0 turns out. So basically I just upped the main jet by 5 and dropped the clip position 1 notch.
