3/8 drive torque wrench that reads in inch pounds is very handy for big bore install.

Any other tools recommended apart from the regular stuff? For example some pistons are removed/fitted by a special tool. Is one needed in this case? What was the most difficult/challenging stage so i have a heads up?
Worst part for me was probably getting the piston into the cylinder, i cheaped and didn't buy a ring compressor so i had to improvise and make one out of a soda bottle and a zip tie.

If you are not mechanically inclined the your only paying the shop a couple of extra hours labor, which is $170 extra. Guess what, that is nothing if it gets screwed up. It is a lot more complicated than changing a plug.
Make sure your torque wrench will go as low as 60 in-lbs and as high as 40 ft-lbs and you will be all set. Of course my in-lb didn't go high enough and i seemed to recall the torque specs being lower so i had to but another torque wrench to fasten the head back down.

The valve cover gasket was the worst part for me. I really dislike that piece of rubber.

I have seen this said many times. Why is it a PITA? I'm getting ready to tear my bike down this weekend, and hopefully be putting it back together in about a week or so when the 351 gets here. I've had my valve cover off my 87 kawi mojove 250 many times and had no problems with it.

Seems there was a bad batch of cover gaskets that would shrink once they were taken off.

I was expecting this problem with mine, but no issue at all. I wondered what I was doing wrong when it installed so easy

I think it was '09s -> that started having that issue. You know: "New and Improved".

the front cam chain guide was a real pain for me.... took me 20 mins to get it back where it belongs.

I painted the cams and chain so i know where it went.
