Default How Many Miles On Your 250s?

How many miles ya got?

Also, have you encountered any problems if you have higher milage?

Any specific maintenece done to prevent any possible problems?

Just wondering because I've got ~650 on my new bike, and I'm just wondering what the future holds.

I have a 2009, got it in June, and I'm already about to blow past 4000 miles. Lots of streets, but I've trail ridden it a few times. TONS of gravel roads / fire breaks. No major issues thus far. Tires are showing their age. The airbox lid has a split, I probably overtightened it. The valve cover leaks, as does the oil cap.

I gotta say, for me to be learning how to ride on it (and dropping it) the bike seems very durable. I do worry about clutch life, riding trails I'm roasting the poor clutch. Definately need a bigger rear sprocket

Well, at 698 today, I changed the oil & filter.

That's all that I need to do right now, correct? (Forgive me, I'm a mechanical noob.)

I'd check (and probably clean/oil) your air filter, if you haven't recently. I clean and re-oil mine every few hundred miles, especially since I tend to be the caboose. Clean your chain and sprockets, and relube the chain. Also, I WD-40 the lower pivoting odds and ends, like the footpegs and the brake pedal.

If you already knew those things, then forgive me for wasting space

Got 1815mi. Changed oil and oil filter often the first 1000mi. Using Lucas semi synthetic 10w40. Back tire is about gone, riding about 60/40 street/dirt. Cleaned and oiled the filter twice, it's been dusty and i removed the snorkel. Had a few loose bolts and even lost one on the rear linkage during a ride. Almost every bolt has now been checked and/or loktite.
Got DJ kit on order...
I have enjoyed every mile...

Again, I'm not too mechanically inclined when it comes to this sort of thing. Sad to say, I'm the type who would rather just pay someone to do it, but I'm trying to learn. I actually have some PJ1 chain wax, and have used it already, so I'm good there. I'll add some lube to the friction points like you listed above.

I don't know engines and have always just loved to ride bikes, never mess with them. Now, firearms, that's another story. I'll build a 1911 in a heartbeat; I'll strip an AR-15 to bare bones and bring it back in no time... I've always been a gun nut -- that's my #1 hobby!
