How many miles can you expect out of a klx250's lifetime?

I've had mine less than 3 months and I'm beating around 3,000 miles. I ride mine to school every day (2.7 miles one way) and I ride mostly streets (for now).

I got 10,000 miles, and if I keep this up, in 20 years it will hit 100,000, then I might give it a tune up.

I took mine in for it's first service today with 1600 km. I have had it since July 1.
I rode about 100 klics today and my *** felt like somebody elses went I got home. While I was waiting for my bike I unfortunately found my way to the parts department and somehow ended up with a new Rocket Joe mesh jacket. Funny how that happens.

Well I have 3100 miles on my KLX so it's still a baby in my eyes. I have read a couple people on here having like 25,000 miles. Thats crazy to me but I like reading that. It gives me an idea that my bike could last that long provided on stay on the same track with my maintenance which I will.

Mileage means nothing. Maintenance is the key. If you use a good Oil(preferably Synthetic), and change it often, You'll get unlimited mileage. If you beat it and neglect doing oil changes, and if the oil looks like crap when it comes out, you won't get good life out of your engine. It's not like they use some inferior metal for the ring's, Cam's, Bearings, and various other wearable parts. It's all just like car parts and cars go 200,000 miles. My oil comes out looking clean when I change it. There's no metal in the filter when I cut it open to check it. I hope to donate my KLX to my Grandkids when I get too old to ride.

I truly hope all you folks are correct about this mileage thing. I really like my bike, and if I get another bike, I plan on keeping this one too.

You know when you see that guy riding that mint 25 year old trail bike. He pulls up at the servo to get some fuel and you just stare. How cool is that bike? I wish I had one of those. Keep the KLX for years to come. All good things come to those who wait. This one's a keeper.

Engines that run higher RPMs naturally wear a bit more. Thats why big old american inline six truck engines seem to last forever. I have heard of the EX250 ninja engines lasting upwards 90K miles. I would think a lower revving single would last at least that long, especially since its not generating as much power and thus not as much heat to break things down. Anyway i realy hope my Ninja lasts long and i hope the KLXs last long too. Im not into buying new stuff alot...

Here, here! I never had a bike I planned to keep very long, but there's somethng about the KLX.

I know of a couple of people with 11 year old KLXs. Still going strong.
