Default How many miles can you expect out of a klx250's lifetime?

Ive got a little over 2200 miles on my 07 since last March. Mostly street riding back and forth to work. Talking to a guy at work and he asked how many miles I could expect out of it. He kiddingly said I was wearing it out and would need a new one next year. I have no idea. How long do bikes last? I'm talking maintained properly and not beat. I'm just looking for an idea how long a smaller bike might last, it doesnt have to be the klx.
Thanks Dan

as long as you take care of it............ as long as you need it.

you should ask that guy at work................. oh never-mind I'm sure he hears the Banjos (my family tree doesn't spread like you would expect- it all kind of joins together)

small towns have their limits

Someone on here( I think it was Kalasaki) had over 10,000 miles on it some time last year. I would expect with regular maintence and not totaly beating it it will go over 20,000 miles before really needing a rebuild.

If a car/truck can go 200k+ miles on good maintence. I would expect the KLX to go at least 25k+ miles, maybe 50k+ miles. Depends on how you treat it during your rides.

I have already 5.5k miles. I had a few issues, but I have taken care of those problems and now the KLX runs like a champ. I drive so much, I'm already planning new tires again after only a year. Current tires will probably last till 7-8k odo miles.

I used to get 20,000 miles out of my 2 strokes. Another 20,000 with a 0.5 overbore. These bikes, with proper maintenance, should go 50,000 miles no problem.

Sounds good, I like to keep my oil changed etc. My original tires are getting down there also after 2200mi.

Fresh oil and air filter maintenance. That's the key to long engine life.

+1. I think most people are thinking about a 2 smoke. We regularly see anywhere from 90,000 (56000mi) to 100,000km (62,000mi) here in Japan.

Smaller country, yet, more to travel on.

If I lived somewhere in the Rockey's or App mountains, I might ride more too. But only 100miles at a time, butt can't take much more.
