How long will the fuel last?

How long will the fuel last?
Not a debate on the World Oil Reserves, but a simple question relating to my '09 KLX 250.
It is UK spec, Fuel Injection model, and from reading other posts it differs from the US spec carb'd model as it does not have a manual fuel reserve tap. From what I remember it is a 7.2 litre tank.
The low fuel light comes on after 80-90 miles, but how far has anyone gone once the low fuel light comes on and before running out !!!
After 25 miles I get a bit nervous and re-fill !

Your bike has a fuel capacity of 7.7 litres.
Fill it up, reset the odometer and check how much fuel goes in next time you fill it up.
From there you can work it out.

A 1L camping fuel bottle strapped to the rack or in your back pack will help ease the pain of pushing your motorcycle to the gas station when you test its range.
Actually two bottles is a better idea if you ride like I do.

So we have now discovered the mystery "fuel" light our manual talks about... its only on the UK-spec bikes with the EFI. Very interesting.
Kinda silly to not put a reserve pickup on a MC in my opinion but hey, that's how they do 'em now...

These look sweet. I'd Like to see a rubber case/cover for them so they could be strapped onto a rack.

I almost always run mine to reserve. Unless I've got leftover miles from the previous ride, I'll just take off and ride till reserve then come back. But if I've got 30+ on the clock I'll fill up first THEN run it to reserve. But that's probably why I've got 9K miles on the bike.
Have I mentioned lately that I'm going BONKERS while the bike is in the shop? AHHH!

Well, after 35 miles running with the Low Fuel Light the engine was beginning to cough and splutter up a steep hill (presumably the fuel pickup is not at the "back" of the tank).
I filled up with 7.1 litres so in theory there was still 0.8 litres in the tank (not sure where it was hiding).
Total distance covered was 120 miles.
Overall that is around 80 miles per UK gallon or 63 miles per US gallon or 3.7 litres per 100km for the Europeans !
Note that is commuting in London traffic - it would probably be a lot better on the open road.
