Default High RPM Surging

Hi y'all,
Has anyone else had a problem with surging at high rpm? I rejetted with the DJ kit, I put in the DJ 116 Main jet and put the clip at the 3rd from the top, KDX snorkel, drilled out baffle in stock exhaust. It surged at 6-7K RPM after fiddling with the fuel screw, I read on here and someone said it's rich and need to pull the air box lid. After removal it moved the surge to 7-8K RPM. I stopped fiddling with the screw because it only changed my idle. It pulls great up to 7-8K RPM and the surging seems to worsen at higher gears. Any suggestions to a cure? I don't remember how many slots are in the needle, should I put it another one down to make it leaner, or would putting a more free flowing exhaust help lean it out more? I'm assuming I'm still too rich.

You're super LEAN. Put a #128 main jet in if you're sea level to 1500 feet, over that to 3000 feet put in the #124 main jet.

If you want performance then remove the airbox lid and stick with the #128 main jet, needle in middle groove, and set the fuel screw correctly.

The clip position on the needle affects 1/4 - 3/4 slide opening. After that, the main jet does the metering.

Ride on

I gotcha, I misunderstood, when preparing I half recalled someone posting that the stock jet #'s are higher than the DJ numbers of the same flow area and just followed the DJ directions assuming they were inline with the R&D done here on the board.

Thanks for the tip Brewster about needle position. Since it occurs at wide open, I know I can just switch out the jets per WestOzKLX's comments. I'm tempted to keep the air lid off and just switch the DJ 128 main jet.

Thanks for y'alls help!

Damn! I wish you could change the jets without removing the carb! I hope I can get off work a little early one day to pull it so I can ride the trails Saturday
