EMS , nice to see you all prepped for the ride. I hate the guys that show up and haven't checked one thing since their last ride 6 months ago. Halfway through the day they break something and then don't even have tools to try and fix it.
I went on a weekend ride last fall with a bunch of guys from a local mcy club. All ex racers and fancy $$ bikes. I was intimidated until we took off riding and I found I could hold my own. Halfway through the morning a guy on a $$ bike breaks his badly worn chain. He has zero tools, and is seriously up a creek, being about as far away from camp as possible. Turns out nobody , but me (the new guy) has a master link, or very much for tools. Another guy stops to see if everything is ok. He happens to have a cool little chain breaker, and with that, and my parts and tools, we get this guy going. I don't think the guy who broke his chain even said thanks to anybody. He didn't offer to pay me for the $10 link and I (being the new guy) didn't make an *** of myself and ask him to pay for it, or to have it back after the weekend of riding. I went home and ordered another masterlink!
This guy is probably still riding on that same worn out chain with 2 masterlinks.
Stuff happens, things break, you never know when your bike is going to do something to hold the day up. You're only a jagoff if you don't have a reasonable amount of tools/parts to try and fix it.
Sorry that got kinda long.
Glad your prepared.

I hear ya dan. The same reasons is why i bought the bigger clarke tank, I dont want to be "that guy" that ran out of gas and had to bum gas of others... I was a boy scout, and their motto is "Be Prepared" Thats why it is also so hard for me to try to camp off of a motorcycle, i usually take so much so i am prepared i couldnt possibly fit it all on a bike.
In case this helps, I'm running 125 main jet, stock needle shimmed with a .025" brass washer, 38 pilot, Kouba screw set 1 turn out. I started at 2 turns but that was too rich. Bike has an HMF exhaust with quiet core and spark arrester, stock air filter with snorkel removed.
My base elevation is 5000 ft and I've had the bike up to 12,000 ft. Runs great. It is a little rich on the bottom above 10,000. I'm thinking of going back to the 35 pilot and playing with the fuel screw setting. I don't have much adjustment room right now. I suppose I could just remove the airbox lid when I'm at altitude. I have to pull the carb to drill out the starter jet anyway though, so I might go ahead and try the leaner pilot jet.

I thought about doing something like that, but you still wouldnt remember how many turns out it is, well i wouldnt at least. Ill just have to fool with it, i changed my klr's from 2.5 turns out to 2, and it seem to make it more crisp.
Have fun out there. I'll be tag-teaming you when you get back and heading out myself. It'll be great to get out of this heat.
