I don't know who Bill Blue is, but I see his name referenced all the time in regards to the tm33, boring it out, etc... How do people contact him? I have access to a machine shop, does he do anything special that they wouldn't think to do? There's one on Ebay right now for $209, thought that was a good price. I'm putting a plastic tank on, the clarke tank I guess, so I'm wondering if I'll need to grind the top of that carb down...thought I'd seen that mentioned somewhere. Eventually, I'd like to do that kustom kraft kit to get to 331, I think it was someone here that's done that with a tm33.

I've seen where people who switch to the tm33 have a motion pro throttle, does anyone know which one specifically? Can I just measure the stock cable and replace it with a mikuni compatible cable/throttle from them?
With the TM33 from Bill Blue, it's a complete bolt-on part. Bill not only bores the I.D. of the carb to 34mm, but he also presses on aluminum adapters front and rear to fit our bike. You can contact Bill at b_jblue@sbcglobal.net. It's only the Mikuni TM36 that you have to grind the top of the throttle wheel to get the Clarke tank to fit.

I'm using a Magura 314 throttle, but others are using the Vortex throttles without problem. Both of these throttles will work with the stock pull cable and a Mikuni TM33. You just remove the push cable. I don't know if any other Motion Pro throttles will work with the stock cable. However, you can contact Four Stroke Works, as they do sell a custom cable with some of their throttles. Check out www.fourstrokeworks.biz or call Jerry Leighton at (760) 948-0325.

Thanks guys. Thanks for the contact info mustang, appreciate it. I'm going to email Bill and then worry about the throttle. I copied/pasted the relevant stuff to a word doc to get started. I tried every incarnation of fourstrokeworks execpt for .biz. I figured they didn't have a website.

I've never even heard of a push/pull throttle or cv carb until I got this bike. I haven't even looked at it yet. I know the feel of that cv carb has to go, and it's nice to talk to people who already know what works and what doesn't. I really appreciate the time, money and headaches, you guys are saving me.

One more question, Garry's thoughts on keeping the fan, got me thinking. Do four strokes run hotter than two strokes in general? Do you guys have a favorite oil and coolant? Ok, that's two questions, but I swear that's it for awhile. :-)

Thanks again,
Bob

They used to be .com but most likely let it lapse briefly and domain squatters got hold of it and are probably holding it for ransom.

Jerry at FSW knows these bikes better than anyone - even retired he is in high demand. He did the FCR35 carb on my old KLX and I was very happy with it. If you can get him on the phone, that's the best though. He unloaded many tips and tricks when I spoke with him a while back.

Thanks nobrakes, I've seen his name a bunch and fourstrokeworks mentioned, but didn't even think for a minute to try .biz. When you search fourstrokeworks in google you get a link to one of those parked domain/paid search advertising sites that have links to various sites that have the words four or stroke in them. That's legal and all, but what a scam, don't click on them. They get at least a buck or two from the advertiser when you do that. That's what was so frustrating.

I bookmarked their site, gonna look at it now. From what I've read it sounds like if I call over there, they'll be intimately familiar with what I want. I read a lot of these forums before I bought the bike. I figured another 1,500 on top of the 4K I paid for it should get me somewhere in the ballpark. I wouldn't have bought it without learning what a lot of you guys were doing. I was actually contemplating going to to N. Jersey to check out the Husky shop. That would have been a nice bike too. It's hard to justify to the wife though, but she rides too so I'm pretty lucky.
