Default running lean/ jetting

I am looking at buying a 07 klx250s and have seen a lot of refrence to them running lean from the factory. What is this? I havebeen toldthat you can have them rejetted to fix the problem. What is this and is it an expensive process? Thanks for any imformation you can offer. Is this a low maintenance bike?

Yes its lean, but not terribly, i guess you could run it in stock form.... rejetting will give you moer power, and it is cheap to do it if you do it your self, dont know what it would cost to have a shop do it though.

The factory is never going to sell u something that is "too lean". The bike will run fine in stock form with the stock jetting. Once you add other mods thought that let more air in, and more air out, or if you just want a little extra power out of the motoron tap, that is when the bike needs to be richened up a bit.

Kawasaki's way ofaddressing EPA concerns was the KCAS and lean the engine out a good deal but so you don’t melt the piston they installed that ridiculously tiny and excruciatingly restrictive intake snorkel.

The small snorkle hasmuch more to do with "Pass-By" noise regulation than engine emmissions.
To keep the intake / airbax noise low it got restrictive.
