Default HELP light problem

While hooking up a new headlight (acerbis) i connected the 3 wires for the headlight 2 the new light just 2 make sure it worked, as i was doing this 1 of the wires unhooked and touched another wire, now i don't have headlights or taillight. Everything else works fine, blinkers, horn, brakelight, just no running lights.
I checked the fuse and it looked good. Is there anything else to check? What does the diode do? Could the diode have blown? Oh yeah no wires are cut and i hooked the stocker back in till i figure this out.

A diode is like an electronic check valve. Basically it is part of the system that changes AC power to DC power.
I doubt a diode is blown, but there is most likely a fuse blown. How did you check your fuses? Are sure you found the right fuse? People have come across this problem before and it most alwayse ends up being a fuse.

Do you have a KLX250S or KLX300? The KLX250S 2 fuses in a flat, rectangular-shaped black inline holder under the seat toward the rear of the bike. Check them both if you are unsure which one does what. The only diode on the 250S is for the kickstand interlock.

Best way is to check with an ohm meter. Short of that, try a new fuse.

Yes, there is more than one fuse. The one you checked is the main fuse...blow that and nothing works.

What you are looking for is flat shaped and black in color. It doesn't look like at typical fuse holder. There will be 2 fuses in the holder..both are used, so don't 'rob Peter to pay Paul' or your cooling fan will stop working

I blew a fuse under my seat once. I lost all my lights but, everything else worked just fine.

Once I found it, I put some extra fuses in tool kit so next time I don't have to ride home in the dark.
