Post Help choosing proper Race Tech spring rates

Hey y'all,

I want to upgrade the suspension on my 09 KLX. I recently picked up some gold valves for a good price on ebay. I also want to get some fork springs but my ignorance has halted me once again.

im 29. 5'11'' @ 170lbs. Im looking for somewhat stiffer springs as I ride mostly street and probably will continue to. I can see myself riding a local trail here maybe twice a month between 30min to an hour at a time. Id even like to lower the bike through the length of the forks. Eventually throwing a 19in wheel up front.

When I type this info in at race tech, all I see is numbers :confused confused: Help in this department would be very appreciated.

Any of y'all have some suggestions / insight as to what spring rate I should go with?

Thanks ahead for the replies!

Don
You might want to contact Cogent Dynamics. They can help you with the springs you need.
Rick is very knowledgeable with the KLX250 having had one himself for several years.

Right on thanks y’all.

I ended up going with a .50kg spring rate. The race tech rep recommended that rate for my type of riding.

Going to to be doing the rebuild next week with a friend at local DIY shop here in LA. Lucky wheels!

fyi those dudes are rad. It’s a community workshop where you can pay a daily or monthly rate and come in and use their tools and space. They even have tools for fabrication! I highly recommend it for anyone in the are with limited work space.

Will update with results once completed!

Street and fast gravel roads mostly the fluid i think helped with the pre load. In October i'm gonna send my forks and shock off to race tech to get the gold valves put in and have everything re valved.
