I've got a Garmin Legend HCx and am really happy with it. H=high sensitivity antenna, C=color, x=expandable memory with SD card. The screen is somewhat small, but you shouldn't be looking at it anyway while blasting down a trail. If you want a bigger screen, you'll have to spend a lot more money. The last time I checked Amazon.com, they were going for $174 w/free shipping. That's a deal considering places like Dick's Sporting Goods, Cabelas, and Bass Pro are selling them for $250. The base map it comes with isn't worth much. You'll need something like Mapsource TOPO 2008. Make sure to get a RAM mount. GPScity.com has them for about as cheap as anyone.
